SUMTER ROTARY CLUB
"MAKE-UP BANKING PROPOSAL"
SEPTEMBER 22, 2003
After reviewing Rotary International Guidelines and talking with other Rotary Clubs, it is recommended that the Sumter Rotary Club adopt a "Make-up Banking" policy for all our members. The spirit of the make-up policy is to encourage fellow Rotarians to be involved in other Rotary commitments other than the regular weekly meetings, and thus, give the Rotarian credit for his time by counting these additional meetings as a make-up for attendance purposes. These make-ups can be "banked" during the Rotary fiscal year and may be used as needed for attendance purposes by the member during the Sumter Rotary Club calendar year (07/01/XX - 06/30/XX). Examples of "Banked Make-ups" could include Board Meetings, Roadside Cleanup, Fireside Chats, Committee Meetings, District Meetings, Seminars, etc. There is even an on-line Rotary Club that has different topics to go to that count as a make-up meeting. The Secretary will keep records of the Banked Make-ups and will apply these make-ups as needed by the member. It is still the responsibility of the individual Rotarian to ensure that his attendance is accurately recorded.
We will still encourage members that miss a normal weekly meeting to make-up at another Rotary Club within the two week period prior to or after the missed meeting as allowed by Rotary International. Make-up Attendance at other Rotary Clubs will continue to be recorded as usual but will not be "banked" outside of the two-week parameter. |
